Procyon’s Compass – what is it and how to use it? Procyon’s Compass is Lost Ark’s hub for daily activities which entail Adventure Islands, Chaos Gates, Field Bosses, and Ghost Ships. Completing these activities provide progression material for upgrading your gear score through honing.
These daily activities are available throughout the day at specific times. Procyon’s Compass activities are reset daily at 5:00 am (USEast) (05:00) per the in-game clock and calendar. Other activities, such as specific Adventure Islands, are reset once a week on Thursdays.
Field Bosses, similar to World Bosses in other MMOs, can be found in the open world throughout Lost Ark. Field Bosses can be completed once a day to earn the big rewards, but you can still do multiple bosses a day for drop rewards. These bosses can be difficult and do require a group of players to defeat, but don’t worry as usually there are plenty of players waiting around by the time the event starts. In turn, defeating the boss will reward you with honing materials, jewelry accessories, secret maps, and more.
To locate a Field Boss for your current gear score, simply open the Field Boss menu in Procyon’s Compass and review the list of available bosses and their recommended gear score level. Once you identify the boss you want to challenge, click the location button to bring you to the World Map. Now you’ll know exactly where to start traveling to.
Ghost Ship is a weekly raid activity where you actually board a ghost ship and start by killing waves of monsters until the boss spawns. Before starting, make sure to grab the daily Una’s Task – Bleak Night Fog to start earning reputation to acquire the Eibern’s Wound ship! This will take some time to build up a level 3 reputation so better to get started earlier than later to not waste any of your efforts.
The bosses of the Ghost Ships are actually pretty challenging with plenty of health bars you must deplete. Make sure that you bring some Pheonix Plumes for resurrecting as chances are you may die especially when learning the fight, and with Ghost Ships you cannot revive at the dungeon entrance as you would then forfeit participating in the rest of the event.
Note: Ghost Ship has an entry limit of one time per reset, meaning if you die during the event and choose not to use a Phoenix Plume to revive on the spot you will forfeit returning to the event and be removed from the area. You must now wait for the Procyon’s Compass reset to attempt again.
Ghost Ships are certainly worth doing. On top of valuable honing material earned, you are also completing the grind for obtaining your Eibern’s Wound ship through the Bleak Night Fog Una’s Task daily – which all-in-all requires you to complete this daily task about 12 times.
Chaos Gates can be completed once a day and only on specific days listed. Chaos Gates tend to be swarmed with players and actually are pretty easy to complete. These are also fairly quick activities, only taking 15-20 minutes to complete.
Once a Chaos Gate spawns, be ready or head there as quickly as possible as these events are popular and there’s limited attendance allowed of only 30 players. If there are more than 30 players waiting for the portal to open be ready to act fast – it’s first come, first serve for who clicks fastest to enter. Tip: Close your chat window to reduce lag and as soon as the Chaos Gate spawns hit “G” followed by “Enter” to beat players trying to use their mouse to enter the Chaos Gate.
Once inside, you will fight your way through a group of bosses with the other 29 players that also made it into the portal. Defeating the Chaos Gate will reward you with a Secret Map, runes, and card packs.
Similar to Ghost Ship, should you die you cannot revive unless you use a Pheonix Plume. Make sure that you bring some Pheonix Plumes for resurrecting as chances are you may die especially when learning the fight.
Note: Chaos Gate has an entry limit of one time per reset, meaning if you die during the event and choose not to use a Phoenix Plume to revive on the spot you will forfeit returning to the event and be removed from the area. You must now wait for the Procyon’s Compass reset to attempt again.
Adventure Islands are daily events on a rotating timer that can offer many different types of rewards. In Procyon’s Compass, select the Adventure Island tab and review the list of islands and their scheduled times.
Once you determine the island and meet the scheduled event time, set sail and head in the direction noted when you click the Location button in Procyon’s Compass menu. When you reach the island and the event has started, complete the tasks marked on your minimap to receive the rewards listed in Procyon’s Compass.
Hint: Some islands, such as Shangra and Tooki, have various locations for spawning and are randomized so that players will frantically sail the open seas searching each location. You can actually find where the island will be spawning by visiting the correct location ten minutes before the event by seeing a vortex portal present at the location. If you do not see a vortex portal within the 10-minute window of the event starting then quickly move on to the next location to increase your chances of finding the island. Also, keep an eye on in-game chat, players usually share when they find it.
